Graduate Production Engineer

PowerJacks are looking to recruit a Graduate Engineer to support our Production Engineering function. Graduates need to be located in Aberdeenshire with a bias towards Mechanical Engineering and Design. Knowledge of CAD, especially Solidworks would be advantageous. We are encouraging applicants from Industrial Engineering, Design, Mechanical Engineering and Multi-Disciplined backgrounds to apply for this role.

Overview

Working as part of the Operations team for the planning, implementation and improvement of company’s approved manufacturing methods, procedures, tooling, processes, machines and equipment to ensure achievement of company performance targets; while implementing company’s agreed continuous improvement philosophy to develop world class performance levels for Power Jacks manufacture of precision electro-mechanical linear actuation and power transmission products.

Responsibilities

  • To constantly review, appraise and recommend implementation of new manufacturing methods, procedures, tooling, processes, machines and equipment while controlling the build of Current products
  • Creating and maintaining build instructions, routings, standard times and machine layouts
  • Managing the implementation of production engineering changes
  • Be involved with Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives
  • Delivering production engineering solutions in response to product development, operational and manufacturing needs
  • Establish productive working relationships with design engineering and production teams to maintain regular liaison to discuss issues and agree improvements
  • Analyse and solve issues to optimise the entire production process so as to provide the greatest efficiency and profit to the company
  • Monitor and maintain production processes and yields to achieve targets for efficiency, costs, downtime, set up times, scrap, utilisation and quality.
  • Undertake production troubleshooting, initiate and implement corrective actions
  • Evaluate and undertake improvements to processes and methods, eliminating non-value added activities
  • Verify, maintain and improve operating times for product manufacture
  • Understand and be able to work with and produce CNC programmes
  • Support Tenders and Engineering sales team on preparing quotes for large project builds and commissions
  • Establish and maintain all production instructions and documentation for production processes
  • Support the training of necessary personnel in relevant manufacturing processes
  • Update the MRP system as necessary and issue production paperwork

Qualifications and Experience

  • Aberdeenshire based Graduate in Engineering with a bias towards Mechanical Engineering and Design (Industrial Engineering, Design, Mechanical Engineering and Multi-Disciplined backgrounds or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of 3D and 2D CAD systems (ideally SolidWorks).
  • Previous experience and sound knowledge of CNC machine programming and working in a multi-discipline workshop is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to work as part of a team and prioritise a busy, varied workload
  • Strong PC skills, proficient in all Microsoft Office packages.
