Workshop Fitter / Mechanical Assembly Technician

Due to a very full order book and continued growth Power Jacks is looking for a time-served Fitter / Mechanical Assembly Technician to support our Assembly and Test facility in Westhill

Overview

This role, reporting directly to the Production Supervisor, involves working within a small team of team of machinists, fitters and warehousing staff. This is a key role for the business where a high level of diligence, accuracy and quality of work is required. Ideally the role will require the individual to be competent in forklift driving and overhead crane usage. Working in a continuous improvement / 5S workshop environment would be a great advantage to the successful applicant.

Responsibilities

  • Strict conformance to the assembly and testing of all PowerJacks products using technical specifications, engineering drawings and customer requirements.
  • Ability to question and engage with engineering and best practice methodology to ensure Right First Time.
  • Acute awareness of minimising waste – scrap, rework and lost time.
  • Produce products with a high degree of accuracy and finish, ensuring Power Jacks quality standards are achieved.
  • Support the manufacturing of product – use of drills, saws, shot blasting, fettling.
  • General workshop activities.
  • Complete company documents / job sheets, etc as appropriate.
  • Ensure all required documentation is completed on time and accurately.
  • 5S Audits and CI Support.
  • Liaise/work with any other department as required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Candidates should be able to work in a busy environment, have excellent communication skills, have a flexible approach to work be reliable and be able to work on in a team or on their own initiative.
  • Fully competent in all standard Microsoft packages with previous experience of MRP systems.
  • Forklift and Overhead Crane Experience.
  • Excellent team working skills, working effectively within a team environment and providing support to other team members during periods of high activity.
  • Previous experience of working within an engineering based manufacturing environment is essential.
